Artists Develop Art Making Skills.
While making my slabs I learned that i had to sort of compact the clay i didn't use back together to get the air out so there weren't any air bubbles. Also I learned to use two taped together rulers to get the width of my clay as even as possible. By laying the rulers on each side of my clay while I was rolling it out I was able to make my clay even on all sides cause the rulers kept the rolling pin from going down any farther. That way i was able to apply as much pressure as i needed and the rolling pin would thin out the clay anymore than I needed cause the rulers stopped it.
Artists Communicate Through Their Work.
I communicated through my artwork by including personal interests in my texture roll design. I'm very interested in fashion prints such as chevron or animal prints such as cheetah prints or leopard prints. By applying these different fashion prints to my texture roller and rolling them onto my slabs I expressed my love of fashion and animals to whomever may see my box. Everyone was also able to tell what animal i liked depending on the prints I embroidered onto my texture roll and slabs.
