#1. My most successful artwork was the box because I came up with the pattern myself and I was able to make it just how I wanted it. Also because I had a little more experience with clay since the beginning of the year so I was able to get better results. And when i'm able to glaze it I can pick whichever two colors I want so I pretty much was able to make the box from my imagination and make it come to life to help express what I like.
#2. The project I overcame the most obstacles with was my sphere. I had to first make the sphere then i had to learn how to carve out the letters and shapes I wanted on it while trying to make it look smooth and accurate. Also carving out the gingerbread man while trying to make it look symmetrical was very difficult because it was small and it was hard for me to fit my fingers in the little arm and leg spaces to smooth it out and fix it. The last obstacle I overcame while making my sphere was making the scarf on the snowman. Everything I did just didn't look right to me until i finally got it perfect.
#3. The two pieces that show my growth as an artists are my box and my sphere because compared to my totem spoon you can tell that i worked hard on it and showed improvement. On my totem spoon I did basic things such as a heart and softball and my spoon was flat and had lots of creases but as for my box and sphere, they were soft, smooth and I showed more personality to them. Also, my box and sphere showed what I liked cause I was able to express myself more.
#4. Being limited in my medium is upsetting but yet it's still a good thing. Being limited to me has actually been pretty good. I would say my experience with the clay is difficult yet improving because in the beginning i had no experience with clay but as we made more and more things I was able to overcome obstacles, learn new techniques, and really grow as an artist. For example, a frustration I had was when I was making shapes or designs because sometimes I want it to be perfect and it just doesn't come out that way. Although I have frustrations, the positive side of being limited to clay is that it helps me become more and more familiar with it and how it works so that each time I use it, it gets more and more easier for me.
